After a couple of detours (a duo album with Alison Krauss, a covers project with his Band Of Joy, oh, and the Led Zeppelin reunion), Robert Plant is back together with his longtime band, the Sensational Shape Shifters, for a U.S. tour that kicks off June 20 in Dallas.
The Sensational Shape Shifters played on Plant’s 2002 album Dreamland and 2005’s Mighty Rearranger. The band features Justin Adams on guitar, Juldeh Camara on ritti (one stringed African violin), kologo (African Banjo) and talking drum, John Baggott on keyboards, Billy Fuller on bass guitar, Dave Smith on drums and Liam “Skin” Tyson on guitar.
There’s been no word about when Plant may release the album that he has been working on with Buddy Miller. But, suffice to say, he isn’t just “chilling” in 2013, as he told us late last year.
